interesting reading but only in the lab at this point. I don't think there have been practical applications with this/studies on humans to see if it panned out in decreases in recurrences/shedding. MAO inhibitors have very strong side effects and certainly isn't something I"d be in a hurry to start taking myself without better info as to their effectiveness in real people with herpes. Many things are effective in the test tube against herpes, even broccoli is! Unfortunately not many of them pan out into practical applications on humans.
once again, herpes is not going to cause the frequent symptoms you've described. If you need clarification that it's all herpes causing your symptoms, stop suppressive therapy and when you get a fresh batch of symptoms, be seen within 48 hours for a lesion culture. if it's not herpes causing your symptoms, all the herpes antivirals in the world aren't going to make a difference.
you have to sign on to be an online patient with westover heights. You pay for a phone consult and then together you and Terri decide what to do next. She also discusses the prices for home pcr swabbing too.
ok, i think i will try famvir instead.i thought i could buy teh home pcr kit from westover.
i read something on hhp about parnate and hvs that sounded liek it was good. here is link http://www.niaid.nih.gov/news/newsreleases/2009/Pages/herpesvirus.aspx
1- they are pretty much the same just they disrupt the viral replication process at a different location that's all. some folks do do better on one than the other but in general when symptoms aren't responding well to antivirals it's because they are not herpes related.
2 - doesn't sound like it's your herpes recurring at all. be seen and get proper follow up.
3 - it's not something you can buy otc like home hiv tests. you have to make arrangements with your provider for them.
4 - not a difference with herpes medications.
5- antidepressants don't help with herpes. they do use some of them for chronic pain issues but at this point it sounds like you need to get a better idea of what is going on than you currently have.
ok grace, i will keep all faq's here
1. valtrex v. famvir
i was told by pharmicist that they are diff class of drugs. if i don't respons to valtrex can i switch over to fam? is this unusual?
2. cuts on my rear end? they just showed up out of no where. they seem to follow the crack.
3. can i buy a home pcr test? i read somewhere that you can buy a 30day home test kit.
4. generic v brand? i notic that my generic changed from plain white pills that had no outer coating to blue pills with numbers (teva pharma). i think i am gettig better respionse from the new blue pills. is there any benefit from using brand ($100) v generic ($5)? i was not getting good response from white plain generic valtrex.
5. doe s anyone use PARNATE?? is it affective?
thank you grace
let's follow up in this post instead of your newer ones - thanks!
herpetic neuralgia isn't really an issue for the vast majority of folks who have hsv genitally.
Odds are you having something non-herpes going on at this point. Honestly not everything that goes on in the genital area is your hsv1 going on.
grace
hi,
i had a positive swab a while ago at start. it really hurt.
my gp says herpetic nuralgia.
thanks a lot
Yes of course you can get genital HSV1 from receiving oral sex from someone who has oral herpes. Still, it's considered a low risk.
No, this doesn't sound at all like genital herpes. Most likely your HSV1 is oral if based on a blood test. The only way to confirm genital HSV1 is by a swab/culture of symptoms. But a year of what you describe would not be herpes. Have you been seen by your doctor to determine what's causing it?
